Update time… 🎉
As you may know by now, I’m gearing up for my biggest challenge yet — 900 miles, 10 days, and 3 disciplines — all to celebrate MOVE Against Cancer’s 10th anniversary.
It’s a long old journey from Edinburgh to London, of course not a direct route, connecting major teenage and young adult cancer treatment centres entirely through swimming, cycling, and running. It’s not about pace, podiums or breaking records — it’s empowerment through movement and raising awareness for a cause I’m deeply passionate about.
And as a coach and amateur 'athlete' myself, I know a challenge like this comes with its fair share of chaos. Balancing three disciplines, recovery, logistics, mindset — it’s a lot! So, I knew I needed someone in my corner to keep me on the straight and narrow.
🚴♀️ Enter Dan
I’m beyond excited to be working with Dan from Club Coaction, who’ll be coaching me through this journey.
Dan brings so much knowledge and kindness, and already he’s showing saint-like patience while I wrestle with training apps and try to figure out new platforms. (I’ve promised him I won’t be this high-maintenance all the way through 😅)
We’ve already had some great early sessions and I'm even more excited for what's to come.
This partnership feels really cool for me, I feel very lucky indeed. It's about learning, collaboration, and being part of something bigger than just one event further down the line I hope.
I’ve trained for endurance events before, and I’ve been incredibly lucky to have brilliant people guide and support me along the way — people I’m so grateful to and who’ve helped me build the endurance foundation I have.
This challenge is on another level for me — and having Dan helping me navigate it means I can put more energy into the bigger mission behind it all, MOVE’s work in supporting young people to rebuild life through movement during and after cancer.
Over the next few months I'm sure we’ll be building volume in the pool, on the bike, and eventually back running on the roads. I'll be learning how to manage the physical and mental load across 10 days of back-to-back endurance with any luck, while also honing my recovery routines, nutrition, and mindset so I can stay strong.
I’ll be sharing all the behind-the-scenes along the way: the sweaty bits, the setbacks, the wins, and the rest!
I’m already endlessly grateful for the generosity, time, and energy Dan is giving to help make this challenge possible. Coaching someone is no small ask in itself, I’m so thankful he’s jumped on board with such enthusiasm.
It truly takes a team — and I’m lucky to have a good one.
If you’d like to come behind the scenes as we train, plan, and prepare for this wild adventure, keep following along.
Peace and love, A x
