Let’s talk about demonising food.
We MUST be balanced. We MUST stop sweating the small stuff. We must focus on the whole wellness, holistic picture.
Don’t you come crying because you haven’t achieved your goals putting it down to some self-diagnosed intolerance or because you haven’t religiously been drinking your BCAAs daily (which are stupid by the way…more on that another day!) when you aren’t sleeping 8 hours a night, you’re smashing yourself into the ground 7 days a week in the gym and never resting, you aren’t getting at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and you are guzzling caffeine on top of caffeine all day.
Let’s take this marvellous study conclusion as an illustration. I love this -
‘This…suggests relatively small or neutral overall associations of butter with mortality, CVD and diabetes…findings do not support a need for major emphasis in dietary guidelines on either increasing or decreasing butter consumption, in comparison to other better established dietary priorities’ Pimpin Et Al. (2016) – great name too, hey?!
In other words, worrying about your saturated fat intake through the consumption of butter is largely ridiculous.
Shouting from the roof tops not to eat butter because ‘BUTTER IS BAD’ is a waste of breath, energy, brain cells, time…
Eating a shit ton of butter and it causing you to become unhealthy and put on weight is a problem and we can help you out BUT, what I’m getting at is let’s stop focusing on the minutia of what is ‘good’ and ‘bad’ and let’s get the bigger ducks in a row first.
Come to me and tell me about your butter issue giving you too much saturated fat in your diet when you can promise me you are sleeping optimally, moving well, resting and recovering adequately, managing stress levels, consuming adequate nutrients and have jolly good levels of hydration throughout your day.
As always, here in support if you need assistance with ANY of this stuff. Let’s get all round healthy and happy together and if you need to chat to a coach, you know where I am.
Peace and love. A x
